This term the Sport Elite students attended a presentation about the career of Amber Merrit, a Paralympian who gained a silver medal in the 2012 London Paralympics. Amber shared about the challenges she has overcome as a wheelchair athlete and the Sport Elite students showed great interest, asking many questions.
After the talk from Amber, students had the opportunity to try wheelchair basketball for themselves. There was a great sense of appreciation of the skill that wheelchair basketball players have to be able to move on court as it was not as easy as they expected to control the chair and ball at the same time.
