Last week, the Year 11 and 12 Art students attended a full day intensive skill builder in oil painting, run by leading Western Australian realist painter Rachelle Dusting. Dusting taught both the theory of oil painting as well as its practical application, directing students to produce two paintings each that responded to value and tone as well as colour theory.
