On Friday 13th the College held our school disco that was appropriately SPOOKY themed. Students responded with an array of fantastic costumes and came in great numbers to dance the night away. Well done to our staff on organising the event, student helpers and amazing involvement from everyone on the night.
Beginners National Computer competition
Computer Programming Academy students Victor Yangco and Riley Lewis have been awarded certificates for achieving a perfect score in the Beginners National Computer Science Schools competition.
Students have worked through multiple problems over five weeks in the programming language of Python. They have used their computer programming knowledge and problem solving skills to animate shapes, provide solutions to riddles, manipulate sentences and create ciphers.
Victor and Riley will progress onto the intermediate competition next year with full support from their Digital Technologies teacher Mr Pilapil. Congratulations on such an impressive achievement!
RUOK Day Reminder
Just a reminder that this Friday 13 September is RUOK day at Aveley Secondary College. Students are encouraged to wear yellow accessories with their school uniform to support positive mental health at ASC.
Don’t forget to get your ticket to the spooky themed inclusive disco, only $5 on QKR or from the front office. Students are encouraged to dress up and there will be prizes for the best costumes!
Junior Boys Basketball Competition
The Junior Boys Basketball team competed in a day carnival at Warwick stadium in late August. With two wins and two losses the boys were very competitive against the other schools and have shown excellent dedication and determination throughout their training.
RUOK Day and Disco
Aveley Secondary College is very excited to be celebrating RUOK? Day on Friday 13 September as part of our Student Wellness Program.
All students will engage in a variety of activities on the day culminating in a whole school inclusive student disco from 6.30pm to 9.00pm. The disco theme this year is all things Ghouls, Ghosts, Goblins and Halloween and students are encouraged to dress up in fancy dress.
Entry is $5 per student and payment can be made through the Qkr app.
Parents/Caregivers have received an email today with more information. We look forward to seeing our students meaningfully connect with their peers and have a great time doing so. As last year’s photos show they certainly enjoyed the day.
Inter-house Athletics Carnival
Congratulations to Quenda for winning yesterday’s Inter-house Athletics Carnival! It was a close race, with Umbrina coming second, Tammar third and Curlew fourth.
Luckily the weather held off so the students were able to fully enjoy the day and participate in lots of events. We were very proud of our students’ behaviour and house spirit, they actively represented the college’s mutual agreements of Respect, Responsibility, Perseverance and Appreciation.
Thank you to all of the staff, especially our Phys Ed staff, who assisted to make the day such a success.
Inter-house Athletics Carnival Reminder
Aveley Secondary College’s second Inter-house Athletics Carnival will be held tomorrow. This is a compulsory school day and all students are expected to attend. A reminder that students are to go to PCG instead of period 1 at 8.30am for attendance prior to the carnival.
We recommend students bring their wet weather gear as rain is forecast. Last year the carnival was a success despite the wet weather! We are looking forward to our students showing their house spirit, supporting their peers and participating in as many events as they can to earn points for their house!
Families received an email last week detailing more information about the day.
Edmund Rice Multisports Program

We look forward to seeing your child there.
*Edit* The sports are now Soccer and Netball instead of Soccer and Basketball. Thank you
Media Academy
Our Media Academy has done a beautiful job capturing our College.
Our extracurricular academies are a wonderful way for our students to challenge themselves to learn new skills, engage with a variety of activities and just have fun!
We wish to thank all of our teachers who go above and beyond the expectations of a teacher and volunteer to run academies in their own time. Without their commitment to our students these exceptional programs would not be possible.
Year 8 Lightning Carnival
The Year 8 Lightning Carnival was held last week with teams representing the college in Basketball, Soccer, Netball and AFL. Congratulations to all students who participated. There were some great individual and team efforts and respectable results with our girl’s soccer and netball teams finishing in second place and boys basketball and AFL teams finishing in third place.
