Introducing Chloe who will be joining our team next year. Chloe is an outstanding recent graduate who comes highly recommended to us.

My name is Chloe De Leon and I am very excited to be joining Aveley Secondary College in 2020. I am a Science and Mathematics teacher who has had experience in other local schools. I am extremely dedicated to educating young minds so that all students have the knowledge and skills to thrive in the 21st century world. I cannot wait to see my students reach their potential and I look forward to meeting you all next year.

The Wildcats are Coming to Aveley SC today! Perth Wildcats stars Terrico White & Jesse Wagstaff will be running a professional basketball clinic at the Edmund Rice program today from 4-5 pm. At the end of the clinic, there will be photo/autograph opportunities but as normal everyone has to be registered to attend.

Our Second group of Year 6’s attended their orientation day today, experiencing a range of classes and learning about the school. It was another great day, with excited students ready to begin their secondary journey.

We are excited to be holding our inaugural Arts Festival Evening on Tuesday 17th December between 5-7pm, with performances starting at 6pm in our Sports Hall. There will be food and drinks available at the event. We are proud of our students and teachers wonderful efforts and achievements. Hope to see you there.

Our Student Orientation Program got off to a great start today with students from Malvern Springs, Upper Swan and Anne Hamersley Primary Schools. Students had the opportunity to experience some classes and meet new people in readiness for the 2020 school year.

Yesterday the students of the Lego Robotics Academy participated in the First Lego League regional competition at Gooseberry Hill Primary School. During this competition, the students had to present a project to a panel of judges. They chose to talk about the dire need for more car-parks at the school to improve safety as the school grows in students and staff numbers. Alongside this, the students had the opportunity to test their own custom-designed robot in a playing field. They programmed automated code to navigate around a map, avoiding collisions and delivering blocks to specific locations. The Aveley team did exceptionally well, placing second in the robotics competition, receiving an invitation to an exhibition match for all the other schools and advancing to the West Nationals held in December. This victory was celebrated with the competition winners and new companions, Outter X.

A friendly update …. The 2020 Contribution and Charges schedule and Booklists will be emailed home on Monday 2nd December. Students with Year 9 electives will be given a confirmation print out of their assigned electives in PCG on Monday.

Booklists and Parent Information booklet will also be available on our website at this time.

The College is holding a working party for interested parents to look at school photo providers for 2020, on Wednesday 27th November at 3pm. If you would like to attend and assist with this selection process please confirm by contacting 6296 1000 or Aveley.SC@education.wa.edu.au.

Some of our fantastic student artwork will be on display this Friday 22nd at 6pm at the Ellenbrook Art Gallery. Well done to our teachers and students involved.

Our year 8 students have been learning about the process of passing statutory laws in parliament and have loved role playing the members of significant people in the House of Representatives. Students were given a script and had to allocate roles, rehearse their role play and were even encouraged to use their own arguments for or against a Bill for “No Homework in Australian Schools”. What awesome participation! – Global Citizens in the making at ASC!
