Now that most students have returned to school and with winter approaching, we encourage parents to avoid using the staff carparks or bus bays for dropping students off. The street parking surrounding the school is designed for this purpose. We thank the parents who are using these areas and encourage all parents to do so, to reduce the risks and prepare for increased numbers and buses in future years.

Room 1 Survey
Students in our Education Support hub in room 1 have been engaging with their community whilst learning new IT skills. They completed a survey for the Commissioner for Children and Young People in regards to how their lives have changed due to the COVID-19 outbreak: https://www.ccyp.wa.gov.au/info-for-children-and-young-p…/…/. Colin Pettit has written back thanking each student for their input, keep up the fantastic work room 1!
Week 1 Attendance
After a cold and wet week, the sun was out and classes were busy. Our attendance for face to face teaching has trended up from 60% in week 1 to 77% today. Our online materials are still available for those learning at home. More details will follow soon about our plans for the rest of the term.
New Jackets
The seasons have certainly changed and time to prepare for the cold and wet winter ahead. A reminder that our uniform shop is open from 8am – 10.30am each Tuesday and Thursday mornings. The new jackets include an extra layer of lining, keeping our students toasty warm. We have wonderful uptake with our Dress Code and thank our parents for their support with this.
ANZAC cooking classes
Ms Pineda has been doing some wonderful projects with our Education Support students, this week, including some textile crafts and baking ANZAC cookies. The students have been really enjoying participating in their practical classes.
Term 2 Classes
Term 2 has gotten underway smoothly when you consider everything. We have never seen students so happy to be at school! Classes are working very well. We know there were some glitches with some families working online and we are working to sort that out. It is a very changeable environment. Please be patient as the numbers of students returning is expected to be more next week.
Premier Update
Today the Premier announced whilst all public schools will remain open until the end of term, families are strongly encouraged to keep their children at home if they have the capacity to do so.
I would like to share with you what this will mean for our school community:
Monday 30 March to Friday 3 April
• All children who attend school will be taught as normal.
Final week of Term – Monday 6 April to Thursday 9 April
• Students who attend will be supervised, but not taught normal lessons.
• Teachers and education assistants will prepare teaching programs for Term 2.
Term 2 – commencing Tuesday 28 April
• At this stage arrangements for Term 2 have not been finalised. The State Government is working on developing a longer term education model for Term 2 and beyond in response to COVID-19.
Please be assured that when I receive further information I will provide details to you as soon as I can.
I would like to thank you for your support and cooperation during this unprecedented situation. Please feel free to contact me should you wish to follow up any issue or concern.
COVID-19 Update
Our priority is the health and well being of students and staff. The college continues to provide a calm and orderly place for our students. Many families have understandably opted to keep their children at home. Fortunately, with our BYOD program, all students are able to access our classroom-based curriculum via Google Classroom. At this stage, we would advise families to not be concerned about any missed assessments or tests, as this is not a priority. The College is well placed to progress to a more comprehensive approach of distance education if there is a school closure. It is important to have Zuludesk installed. Please help us prepare for the future.
With fewer students attending campus it is also assisting with our social distancing protocols.
2019 Year Book
The 2019 Year Book has arrived and ready for collection for those families who have ordered a copy. If you would like to check if you have one on order, please contact our friendly office staff to assist. There are a limited number of additional copies available for purchase also.
Academies Suspended
I regret to inform our community that we have had to suspend our Academies as it is a non-essential activity. We are attempting to focus our staff and students on essential teaching and learning activities. I hope you will understand that is a difficult decision but it is in the best interests of staff and students.
