We were lucky to receive some food donations from our community partner Ozharvest which our Year 10 student leaders crafted into individual family hampers for families in need in the area. We donated the Term 4 2020 Christmas food drive to Ozharvest and we really appreciate that this has resulted in an ongoing connection that allows us to give back to the community.
Upcycling
Our Year 10 students have been learning about sustainability within the Textiles industry and creating items that focus on reducing wastage. Recently they have completed their first project, to upcycle a reusable bag into a fashion item and we are loving their creative usage of an everyday item.
Lunch-time Chess Battles
We are so pleased to see students challenging themselves to lunch-time chess battles in Ms Merten’s classroom. Chess is wonderful for improving student’s problem-solving skills, spatial awareness, memory and creativity.

Kortnee has joined our Corporate Services Team as the main contact for enquiries as to your statements and charges and we are looking forward to utilising her financial know-how.
Hello! I may already be a familiar face to many of you, as I have been enjoying working at Aveley SC on a casual basis since Term 3 last year. I am so glad to now be an official part of the Aveley Community. I will be working in Finance part-time at the School, while spending the rest of my time studying and conducting research in Psychology as a Lab Coordinator. I have been working as a School Officer to support my studies since I was only 18 years old, working in various Primary Schools, as well as the School of Special Educational Needs: Medical and Mental Health. I am incredibly excited to become more engaged in the Aveley Community, and look forward to getting to know you all better as I settle into my role in the Front Office.
New Trade Area
Last week saw the first group of students to use the new trade area in Technologies. All the students productively took part in the bricklaying tasks. We are very proud of the enthusiasm shown by all students who are building new skills and layering their existing knowledge in our new facility.

Breakfast Club
Just a reminder that our Breakfast Club runs every Wednesday from 7.30-8.15am in our Cafe. Students can make their own breakfast from the available selection and start their day off with full bellies and big smiles.
Maps of the World
Our Year 8 HASS students have been busy investigating landforms and landscapes from around the world. Recently, students have been storytelling using maps through Google’s Tour Builder software. Nothing beats an old-fashioned globe though, displaying our world map in three dimensions. Not to mention they are fun to spin!
Using her skill with a paintbrush, Year 8 student Makayla Dunnings has brought new life to this world globe, which will be proudly displayed in Mr Udy’s classroom. Makayla has used bright and vibrant colours to help countries stand out, including some surprises hiding in the oceans!
