Year 10 student Eveline Furaha is the proud winner of the ECU School of Business and Law Investment Award. The competition invited students to invest a fictional $20,000 into Australian businesses of their choice. Every one of Eveline’s five choices managed to increase in value over the course of the competition. Her total profit was $2229.00, which was enough to narrowly win out over the second place student’s portfolio. The biggest winner Eveline picked was Afterpay, which increased by around 25% of its initial value, netting her a nice profit of $1260. Eveline also invested in companies from the retail and materials sectors. Her choice to diversify her investments has paid off as she will now be taking home the ECU School of Business and Law Investment Award and a fantastic prize.
Blanket Activity
This week in Year 10 HASS students have been participating in an interactive learning experience that explores some of the impacts for Aboriginal people in our modern history, called the Blanket Activity.
Students stand on blankets, representing family groups and traditional lands, which are then taken away showing the loss of life and land as a result of disease, war, cultural and family loss. The activity allows participants to experience some of these challenges and impacts from an Aboriginal perspective.
Cross Country
On Tuesday 21 September, we will be holding our Cross Country Carnival. The event will take place during Lunch 2 and Period 5. This is a competitor only event and any student wishing to compete must nominate themselves during Homeroom. Students who are not competing will attend their Period 5 class as normal.
Participants will be required to wear their full ASC Sports Uniform (shirt and shorts) and will be given time before the event to change. All students will complete a 2km course around Ellenbrook Sports Hub, finishing back at the school oval.
