Introducing Jennifer Sandy, who we are delighted to have her join our Education Support team. Jennifer initially joined us last year and quickly formed great relationships with staff and students. She is an amazing teacher who is doing a great job with our students.
Hi, my name is Jennifer Sandy and this year I have the pleasure of joining the Education Support team at Aveley Secondary College. I have six years experience as a Primary educator. After working as a relief teacher at the College throughout 2021 and in Education Support during Term 4, I am excited to continue my journey as an Education Support teacher at Aveley. I am passionate about forming positive relationships with students and encouraging them to be successful learners and members of the community. I look forward to being part of the vibrant and welcoming Ed Support team.
Year 9 Photography students have been exploring our school site looking for unusual angles and structures for their new photography brief. We are very proud of the way they are developing their DSLR camera skills and experimenting with focus and compositional devices. We cannot wait to see how they digitally develop their images back in the Digital Media Labs.
We are pleased to introduce Jasmine Jary, who will be joining our Science department. Jasmine’s passion for science is a welcome addition and we are pleased to have her on board.
My name is Jasmine Jary and I have the honour of joining the Science department at Aveley Secondary College. My studies focused on biology and consisted of environmental impacts humans can have on the world and how to reduce them. This passion translates into helping students understand that they are the change for their own futures. I hope to inspire many students at Aveley to pursue a career in science and understand the importance of science in day-to-day life. I look forward to getting to know the amazing community at Aveley and am excited for the year to come.
We are so excited to introduce Emily Cheung who is joining our Science department. Emily comes to us with outstanding credentials and will be an asset to our school.
Hi, my name is Emily and it is my pleasure to join the Science team at Aveley SC this year. Before joining Aveley I completed my PhD in a joint project between the University of New South Wales and ANSTO, specialising in the characterisation of diffusion processes in novel energy materials. It was a privilege to work in an international research facility as it is to now be teaching at Aveley. I hope to pass on my passion for science and research in my classes and I look forward to meeting and working with you all.

The Year 11 Hospitality Students are preparing to run an in-house coffee shop for staff next term. Recently students put their newly developed barista skills to the test, serving up coffee and cake for the class to enjoy! Whilst students focus on presentation and plating skills our Home Economics staff are delighted to report the food is utterly delicious.
We finished out Term 1 with a special lunch time performance. Mr Remse and his band performed a range of songs to a delighted audience of students and staff. Who knew our students would know Pearl Jam, Oasis and the Red Hot Chili Peppers lyrics. Special thanks to the rest of the band, Halen Grant (guitar), Mr Sharma (drums) and Mx Dancer (bass).
Final day of term fun. The term ended with some festivities including an Easter egg hunt, golden ticket prizes and a lunch time concert. Well done to those students who had keen observation skills to find the hidden tickets. Wishing everyone a happy and safe term break.
