Welcoming the latest addition to our amazing Arts team. Elena has a background as a practicing textiles artist and has overseen specialist Visual Art programs. Her experience and skills will be a great asset and we are excited to have her join us.
Hi everyone, my name is Elena Bollweg and it is my pleasure to be joining Aveley Secondary College at the start of Term 2, 2021 as a teacher of Visual Arts and Media.
My background in the Arts includes working in the fashion industry prior to teaching, and exhibiting artwork at local Perth galleries including Nyisztor Studio and Kent Street Gallery. A highlight of my creative practice has been being awarded the opportunity to travel to Japan to design and produce a bespoke textile which I later used to create a capsule collection of garments that were exhibited at the Western Australian Museum in 2015.
During the study of my first degree, I also worked as a swimming teacher for many years and most recently I completed a 12 month role as the Coordinator of a Gifted and Talented Visual Arts Program at my previous school.
My passion for the Arts and working with young people has led me to become a secondary teacher and I am always excited to show my students how fulfilling the arts can be to engage with. I look forward to sharing my experiences with the students at Aveley and creating some beautiful works of art, film and photography.
