On Saturday 10 December our Lego Robotics team competed at the National Championship – West Final held at Curtin University. Their robot coding was exceptional as they finished 10th out of 48 teams overall in the state which is a great accomplishment. They also presented to a panel of judges, their innovative idea of installing a solar battery and charger, in a backpack to create a cost effective, alternative method to charge and power iPads, laptops and even their own Lego Robot for the day.
The judges’ commented that their idea was a “wonderful authentic solution” and their presentation was “very detailed with models and evidence”, a pleasing recognition of the sheer amount of work the students have put into the competition. Their teacher, Cameron Pilapil was also awarded the Coach/Mentor Award as recognition for his continued support and mentoring of the students to achieve excellence. What an amazing outcome for all!
