Recently the Instrumental students visited the Perth Concert Hall to see the renowned conductor Asher Fisch work with the WA Symphony Orchestra. Students were able to see the second violins make lots of mistakes in Bruckner’s Third Symphony and how the conductor uses singing and arm waving to get them to perform his vision cohesively as a group.
Inspired by their visit, our students were keen to try this conducting job for themselves. Students combined the two growing ensembles and worked together to learn the elements of music and conducting in a fun practical way. It’s been a pleasure to watch these musicians become more confident and ambitious over the semester and we are looking forward to watching them perform in Term 3 and 4.
