In HASS class, our Year 9 students have been learning about the causes and solutions to global food insecurity. Students were surprised to learn that almost 2 billion people worldwide rely on insects as an alternative food source. Students got to sample edible crickets, meal worms and corn chips made from cricket powder. The insects were safe to eat and sourced from an Australian company called Circle Harvest. Some students thought they made a delicious snack, others were not so sure.
Will insects replace our steaks and our snags in the future? Only time will tell!
