At Aveley Secondary College we believe building teaching digital literacy skills to be important across the whole curriculum. Our BYOD program (bring your own device) ensures that teaching programs can use technology in the classroom to enrich the learning experience.
Some of the wonderful ways teachers are incorporating BYOD into the curriculum include Mathematics teachers creating virtual quizzes that tap into students’ competitive sides as they race to show off their mathematical knowledge. Food Technology students create instructional videos showcasing their cooking talents by working in groups to prepare a recipe, film each step and edit the final production. Media students record and edit their films using their iPads and students even use Minecraft to model historic buildings and economic flow diagrams in HASS!
