Aveley Secondary College is committed to an ethic of excellence. We will develop students to have the 21st century skills of teamwork, collaboration, and thinking skills. We will have a highly engaging curriculum with an agreed approach to learning of explicit direct instruction and a focus on Science, Technology, Engineering, the Arts and Maths. It is committed to developing a full suite of co-and extra-curricular programs including a range of specialist sports to take advantage of its proximity to the outstanding facilities in the community.
The College opened in 2018 with an inaugural enrolment of 260 students. It includes a dedicated Education Support Hub with specialist facilities and staff for students with high needs. A series of artworks across the College, designed by artists Arif Satar and Audrey Fernandes-Satar, follow a narrative, exploring the concept of ‘How Things Grow‘ inspired by seed pods collected within the school grounds.
The school will develop the whole child: academic skills, social and emotional intelligence, as well as students who are engaged with the local community and with the contemporary world with a strong sense of global citizenship. There will be strong pathways of academic excellence featuring creativity and innovation. Vocational education and life-long learning will be developed from Year 7.
Our Brand
Our brand epitomises the College’s future focused, global vision of education and also of its local community context. It symbolises a sense of collaboration, unity of purpose and the different elements of its community as it draws from Ellenbrook, Aveley, The Vines and Upper Swan. The colours also embody the changing of the seasons of its community surrounded by the topography of Vineyards, the Hills, the Swan River and the Valley.
